Our Organization
MFCN envisions stronger future generations across Montana, nurtured by skilled and valued home-based early childhood educators.
Our Mission
As the unified voice for Montana's home-based early childhood educators, MFCN is building a statewide community of skilled, supported professionals. Through training opportunities, mentorship, and peer connections, we raise the quality of early learning across the state. Together, we are advocating for the resources and recognition that help children and educators flourish.
Our Story
Founding
Montana Family Child Care Network (MFCN) was founded in 2022 through the National Association for Family Child Care’s Leaders Shaping Leaders program, in response to a clear and growing need across the state. Family child care educators were seeking stronger support systems—ones that elevated advocacy, professionalism, and the unique value of high-quality home-based care. MFCN was created to bring providers together, amplify their voices, and build a statewide network rooted in collaboration, leadership, and shared purpose.
Where we are today
Today, MFCN serves as a trusted resource and collective voice for Montana’s family child care professionals. The organization supports educators through accessible professional education, mentoring, national accreditation, and guidance on strong business practices that sustain quality programs. By engaging families, communities, and partners at the local, state, and national levels, MFCN actively advocates for policies and standards that strengthen early childhood systems and ensure children and families have access to high-quality care.
Looking Ahead
As MFCN looks to the future, the organization remains committed to growth, inclusion, and impact. We will continue expanding training opportunities, deepening advocacy efforts, and strengthening partnerships that elevate family child care as an essential part of Montana’s early childhood landscape. With united voices and a shared vision, MFCN is building a future where family child care educators are supported, valued, and empowered—so children, families, and communities can thrive.
